Songwriter
and lead singer Morgan
Ross,
who is of Welsh decent, says, “I’ve always has a thing for
birds. I grew up with a cockatoo.” Originally a solo act from
Vancouver
,
British Columbia
, Morgan arrived in
Toronto
during the fall of 2005 and formed the
current incarnation of
Birds of Wales (Morgan
Ross-Vocals, Guitar;
Mike Caputo-Lead Guitar; Morgan
“Moe” Smith-Bass; Paul
Barry-Drums). Despite only playing together since
October 2005, Birds of Wales has accomplished much. The band has
already signed with The
Agency Group, toured extensively throughout Canada
and the UK, sold thousands of their well-received, independently
released EP, sold out shows at coveted venues like Richards on
Richards in Vancouver, Lee’s Palace in Toronto and the Betsey
Trotwood in London, England, and received significant radio play on
Canadian commercial & college radio and on XM Satellite Radio.
In fact, their song “My
Lady; In July” was the
most played song on XM Satellite Radio’s new rock music station
“The
Verge” in June 2006.
Birds
of
Wales
is currently recording their follow up disc in
Toronto
and
Vancouver
. Heavy touring is also in the works as Birds of Wales plays venues
all over
Ontario
and
British Columbia
before embarking on their second extensive tour of the
UK
, now with the help of their
UK
label, Invisible Hands Records, in November 2006.
