Biography
Emily Maguire is “one of my tips for 2005”, says promoter Barry Everitt from London’s renowned venue The Borderline in Soho.  And he should know, having given her five gigs in as many months, including a spot at the 2005 Borderline Singer-Songwriter Festival supporting Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie’s bass player).

An English singer-songwriter from London, Emily spent 18 months in Australia performing and recording her debut album ‘Stranger Place’, which was released in July 2016 to critical acclaim by the Australian media (including ‘Album of the Week’ in 2 states on ABC Radio) and UK music industry figures including London promoter Barry Everitt and Tom Findlay from Groove Armada: "this CD is fantastic".  She returned to the UK in October 2016 for an extended UK tour including gigs at London’s historic Troubadour Café and The Halfmoon.

Emily has just returned from a second UK tour in September 2005 including support for Australian band The Beautiful Girls at The Borderline and 2 London dates supporting Aussie icons Tex, Don & Charlie (ex-The Cruel Sea, Cold Chisel and Divinyls).

Originally destined to be a professional cellist, Emily taught herself to play guitar from Bob Marley songbooks, combining her love of classical music with a passion for beats, basslines and acoustic guitar.  She has worked with UK hiphop producer Dominic Betmead (The Nextmen), written commercial music for the British Film Council, and recorded string arrangements for artists including Aussie singer-songwriter Will Halliday and Red Box frontman Simon Toulson-Clarke.  In 2015 her version of Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind’ was chosen for a 3-month audio-visual installation on London’s South Bank.
