Biography

Freewheeler was formed in the later half of 2001 in North London, England. The band members were brought together by a love for real loud, ballsy Rock in the vein of AC/DC, G’n’R, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Rolling Stones. Since those early days they've stuck to their guns, playing their blend of good honest, raunchy rock n roll to audiences all over the U.K.  Their rapid growing fan base is a testament to their fantastic anthemic songs and truly rockin' live shows, which has earned them supports with bands like  Nashville Pussy, The Supersuckers, L.A.Guns and Rose Tattoo. Based around the song writing team of Seb Marshall & Sophie Stievet, the band have written instant classics like Whiskey & the Pills, We Love the Drugs,  Your Love and The Tramp. They've worked with producer Kit Woolven (Thin Lizzy, Cradle of Filth, etc.)  and sound engineer Doug Hall (Iron Maiden) and gained fantastic reviews  for their music across the globe. The band is also blessed with having one of the most exciting frontman to emerge in recent times, Seb Marshall. He has been compared to everyone from Mick Jagger through Bon Scott to Marc Bolan. He just has that special quality that the public want from a singer, familiarity mixed with a unique freshness of his own. Their e.p. release debut on Sleazey Records is quickly gaining support & great reviews everywhere, from Five Miles High & American website Sleazegrinder.com to airplay on LBC & Total Rock. They also won Powerplay Magazine’s  Underground Band of the year in April ’04.

By combining dirty boogie riffing with superb upbeat, sing-a-long songs, and a dynamic live performance full of energy and excitement, Freewheeler are here to drag Rock'n'Roll kicking & screaming into the 21st Century.

"Freewheeler practice energetic, sleaze-influenced rock revelry. Great fun and well tuned, they are definitely the kinda band we like at Powerplay.  Think Dogs d' Amour on speed."
 - Powerplay Magazine

"Good time high energy hard rockin' London glam Rock’n’Roll pop metal - they do it well"
- Organ Zine

"Explosive UK raunch and roll that seems more like the hatching of some diabolical scheme than a mere demo. I mean, these fireballs-of-freedom-rock leave you with nowhere to run, pinning you down like a fuckin' Viet Cong sniper with their hard, bluesy swagger n’ roll. Musically speaking, they sound kinda like AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, and I dunno, something good and British- Raven, maybe. And good lord, do they rock like crazy. Forget those screechy bitches in the Darkness, and whatever those clowns at the NME say- Freewheeler are the REAL saviours of UK rock and roll. Just try on their party-hard anthem “Whiskey and Pills” to see what I mean. Even if you’re normally a pussy, you’ll still be chugging 80 proof and speed dialling the local dealer before the second chorus hits."
- Sleazegrinder

"Whiskey & the Pills is a high octane radio rocker that will bring down any house!  The main guitar riff is in your face and keeps your head bouncing. You'll find yourself singing along with Seb as he belts out some fine rock n roll vocals. I loved the chorus line on this one as well. I swear if this song hit the radio it would soar to #1 on the rock charts!"
 - The Shred Zone

"Whiskey & the Pills is a rockin' sing-a-long slab of sleaze"
- Full Strength Magazine

"Whiskey and the Pills has that sound reminiscent of Guns 'n Roses  with a bit more of a sleaze vocal sound"
- Heavy Metal Resource

"Upbeat, feelgood, sing-a-long songs with lots of attitude and 3 chords.  Vocalist Seb is a natural born frontman and the rest of the band are all top class musicians. Make sure to check this band out as I'm sure we'll hear a lot more from them in the near future"
