Three is a magic
number. Some wise person said that things happen in threes, and
for Anthony O’Brien, the wise person couldn’t be more
correct!
Following two initial band formations The People and Three
Sided Circle, which both unfortunately
resulted in division, singer/songwriter/guitarist Anthony O’Brien
is now in current pursuit of his burning desire to be part of the
ambitious music scene with his fellow band
mates and new identity Inside View
With two failed bands as reference, Ant’s judgment on starting a
new venture was not self-assured to say
the least. It took six months of reflection and thought
on whether a solo career, if any career in music would be an option.
Fortunately, the slight imperfections of the
past were brought to closure as a new
band began to take shape.
During the summer of 2016, a talented young drummer, Chris
Wainwright, was discovered by Ant while
he was watching a practice session of a band Chris was part
of at the time. Ant was extremely impressed and at first hearing
that Chris’s band had split up, Ant
jumped at the opportunity to work with him.
Several months of practice conjured some exciting music. However,
both Chris and Ant where still
searching for the missing link. Many musicians where auditioned, but
due to lack of commitment or interest, none where taken on
board. Matt Ashton, a promising,
confident bassist came into sight when he arrived at Ant
and Chris’s rehearsal studio to practice with them. Even with
limited experience both Ant and Chris
saw a great deal of potential in him, and so the three
piece band originated.
Things were finally slotting into place. The subsequent month or so
saw the threefold working together,
contributing each others unique creativity through writing
and development of songs. However, while three was a magic number,
four seemed to be the formula which fit, and
Ant, Chris and Matt agreed a fourth
member may enhance the groups sound.
After another round of unsuccessful auditions, a message posted by
the band on a local music internet site
caught the eye of inquisitive lead guitarist, Scott
Steele. Ant invited Scott to a practice session even though
Matt and Chris were unable to
attend. The pressure must have been immense for Scott, yet
his talent shone though flawlessly. Ant invited Scott to a full
band rehearsal, and the vote was
unanimous, Scott fit perfectly as the missing piece
in Inside View’s musical puzzle.
Inside View officially formed in November 2016, and months of
rehearsals lead them to their
first impressive live gig at The Tavern in February 2005.
Their success has spiraled,
landing them with gigs in excellent venues such as The
Roadhouse and The Night and Day Café in
Manchester, and also at the JJB stadium
in their hometown, Wigan.
Also Inside View has recently finished recording three tracks
at John Kettle’s Jarraf
House studio, which will be available at future gigs. With
such great opportunities arising in the pipeline in such a
short length of time Inside View
are set to keep escalating. With Ant’s false starts
his third time in the music business
is definitely the lucky one, and finding three
band mates who are on the same creative and determined wave
length, this young, fresh and
thought provoking new band are set to take the northwest,
and beyond by storm.
It’s never clear until you see the Inside View …
