Biography |
Born
on 26th January 1985 in St. Agnes, Cornwall, Joes childhood revolved
round music.
At 11 Joe formed his obligatory 'school band' - 'Jood' for which he
played the drums and sang. At 18,
although Jood were gaining publicity, Joes focus shifted
towards playing guitar and writing his own material, influenced by
his 'heroes' Tom Petty, Sting, Neil Young,
Donavon etc. He was beginning to find
his own voice and style and before long was performing
his songs as a solo artist across the
South West. With both lyrical and
musical integrity Joe has since become an indelible figure
within his local music scene. Joe has a
traditional approach to song writing allowing himself to be influenced
by anything that moves him - something that features continuously
in Joes writing is the Local Imagery - The
beaches, Sand dunes, characters, local streets/pubs and clubs of
Cornwall provide the perfect backdrop for Joes stories, and when his
rootsy folk attitude is coupled with the 70's grunge/punk
sound of his backing band 'The Ammunition'
the result is mature, unique and
captivating ensemble. Joe has performed
alongside some of the UKs most popular acts in recent months
including Courtney Pine, The Wire Daisies, Billy Bragg, Easy Kill,
The Subways, Donavon Frankenreiter, The White
Buffalo, Cara Dylan, Donavon, Martin Harley and Alex Parks.
Lately Joe has been working with top producer
Dare Mason (Prince, Elton John,
Placebo, Paul McCartney). The result of
this perfect collaboration is 'China white Dynamite'
the debut EP from Joe and his group which has been released independently
- so far in its first week selling over a thousand copies across the
south west. One can only imagine that the same artistry that has
afforded him such success within his immediate surroundings will
carry him into the esteem of a greater public gallery.
