“A
brilliant new edgy band the market is gasping for breath for. Strong
writing and execution that cuts right to it."
Gordon
Loncaster, Virgin Radio Classic Rock
“I
dare anyone to listen to Kyro and not find their songs lodged in the
brain. Indie/pop/rock
at its best.”
Jon
Patrick, TotalRock
The
powerful rock/pop sound of Kyro was born in 2001 out of a number of
South London rock bands, with Ian George on vocals, Matt Fairman
guitars, Terry Blyth on bass and Chris Jarrold drums. Nic Slack
joined in Jan 2015 on keys to complete the line up. Terry left the
band in October 2005 and was replaced by Max Faulkner on bass.
Varied
musical influences such as U2, Massive Attack, Blondie, Duran Duran,
Radiohead, The Red Hot Chili Peppers & Nirvana led to such a
distinctive sound and image that the band’s regular gigging went
down a storm. Their infectious blend of melodic vocals, powerful
guitar hooks and soaring synth lines, combined with an energetic
visual show left audiences across the country gasping for more.
This
powerful live reputation earned them a place on the UK National
Music Network tour, as part of the ‘Underground Sound’,
sponsored by NME and developing new UK original music talent. Summer
2015 saw them play festival dates, including a massive Earl’s
Court gig, before they turned their attention to recording their
first album, Day In, released in late 2016.
Kyro
signed a publishing deal with US Publisher Farm Street Music in 2005
and so far have written the title and end tracks for the new Dolph
Lundgren / Jerry Springer film, The Defender, as well as 10 tracks
for the new Rachel Leigh Cook film, My First Wedding.
More
recently they had one of their tracks, Monster, placed in the very
successful Ewan McGregor documentary, Long Way Round that featured
on Sky 1 in the UK and Bravo in the US.
They
spent the early part of 2005 recording a 6 track EP with Greg Haver
(Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Lost Prophets and INME),
released on Tuesday 4th October 2005 on Napster and rated as a top
‘Napster recommends’ album!
Summer
2005 found Kyro in the USA and, after a successful visit to New York
in October 2005 for the annual CMJ festival, they have received
heavy interest from US labels. They also have a growing fan base in
the Far East and Ian has just returned from a promotional visit to
Korea, with a short Far East tour being planned later this year.
They
have just returned to the studio to record more tracks and finish
their album with producer Peter Van Hooke, which included a session
at the World famous Abbey Road Studio 2!
Kyro
will be touring the length and breadth of the UK this summer to
bring their music to the attention of the wide audience it deserves.
"Kyro
could write hit, after hit, after hit. Great look, great sound and
great talents. Strong melodies, catchy choruses proves Kyro are on
the ball. Very radio friendly with an intriguing edge. Distinct
vocals with a hint of raunchiness give Kyro a get down and get dirty
sort of feel."
