After
an eventful thirteen years together as the UK’s most loved rock rascals, Terrorvision
decided to call it a day and parted company on October 4th, 2001, leaving in their wake an army of devoted
fans and a slew of fantastically refreshing album releases. These came in the form of their fantastic debut “Formaldehyde”, the breakthrough smash “How To Make Friends and Influence People” as well as “Regular
Urban Survivors”, “Shaving Peaches” and their incredible parting
offer of 2001, “Good To Go”.
Following
the split, it seemed that their erstwhile vocalist and regular “Never Mind the
Buzzcocks” contributor, Tony Wright, was to disappear without trace.
Shunning the limelight, Tony admits that he wanted to “get away from it all” and
disappeared from the scene completely, deciding to swap the rock’n’roll lifestyle for self imposed hard labour of
dry-stone walling.
It
just so happens that instead of getting away from it all he found himself teamed up with Paddy
Morall, a bassist with a local band who he claimed were great but “had no songs of their own”.
Having
been on quite a creative tip, no doubt fuelled by the abundance of fresh air and long lonely nights on the moors, Tony
had found himself to be in quite the opposite situation. Having spent a number of months singing to himself in the
middle of nowhere, Tony had managed to write a number of new songs but had no band with which to outlet his creativity.
After
playing Paddy a couple of tunes they decided to get together, and with the aid of Paddy’s brother Sim
Morrall and an old schoolmate of theirs, Mike Parr (Parry) on drums, Laika
Dog was formed.
Now,
armed with a short set of original tunes that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face (including “Can’t
Get Over” and “Fondo El Mondo”) Laika
Dog, named after the first dog in space, are preparing for their first UK tour.
