Monkiejamm are a five
piece band who cover a diverse range of cover songs as well as
performing their own material.
Never short of doing gigs, the bands aim is to enjoy ever gig they
do,and have in the past played live venues in their home town of
Grantham.
Currently the band are gathering a growing fan base in and around
the surrounding area.Including Nottinghamshire and
Leicestershire
They recorded their debut album A FISTFULL OF JELLYBEANS last
september but wish to do more. The Monkies get together every weekend
to practice at a local pub and They are currently
concentrating on writing new material and sorting out an acoustic
setup. The range of artists covered are The police to The Blues
Brothers.The Beatles to Wilson Pickett.
To say these boys
have had it hard would be an understatement they formed five years
ago with various line up changes but the line up today have been
together for two years. They started out with only a handful of
tracks but now they have enough material to do a 3 hour gig. They
have worked hard to get where they are.
Here are some
local newspaper reports about the band.
6/12/02 Grantham
journals Claire Carrington says
Monkiejamm made such
an impression on their debut gig at Gravity FM's Rock Night, the
audience couldn't stay in their seats.They sounded good,created a
great atmosphere and were fun to watch,so if you didn't make it to
this gig,be sure to catch the next.
30/5/03 Grantham
journals Bob Hart says
Monkiejamm returned
with an expanded repertoire and bigger sound since their debut gig
in December. The hard work and practising has paid off.An R'n'B
version of the psychedelic Beatles classic Tomorrow Never Knows was
an early highlight.Monkiejamm are coming on by leaps and bounds and
future gigs are worth looking out for.
