Selotape are three
guys, four keyboards lots of gadgets and two Selotape dispensers,
oh and a cross-dressing manikin called Keith who gets to join the
band on special occasions.

Guitar, keys and tape player.
- Dave: Vocals,
Bass, Keys, Detonator and Megaphone.
- Adam: Drums,
Keys, Theramin and any other weird sound effects.
The band are from
Birmingham UK and have been together for just under two years
and in that time they have recorded two singles “Injection”
and “Do it your own way” and released a limited edition mini
album in Australia. The song “Strobe light” has also been
included on a compilation album which is being released in
America on Shut eye records. “Injection” has been released
in Britain on a compilation album by Matchbox recordings, which
has received good positive reviews. The band has received a good
amount of radio play in Britain as well as other parts of the
world including America and Australia. Parts of Europe have also
warmed to the Selotape Sound. A couple of live interviews have
also been requested.
The Selotape bus has
traveled to a fair amount of towns over the last couple of years
promoting the singles “Injection” and “Do it your own
way”. Gigs for Radio 1 and Local arts festivals have all been
included. Plans are being put in to place for many more shows in
2006 with a possible chance of heading off to the States to play
some dates. Recording the Debut album will also commence in the
New Year which the band are really looking forward too.
The art of
Selotaping:
The Selotape boys
like to try and experiment with many ideas and sounds. It’s a
simple three-piece guitar band but with a slight twist, the
twist being the use of Selotape! The art of selotaping a number
of notes down on a keyboard can create a really cool ambient
sound. Then by using a theramin and keyboards through delay
pedals adds a great weirdness to the whole thing. Add a strong
melody and you end up with the Selotape sound. The whole idea is
to create a massive sound for just three people and to leave
people saying: "They really use Selotape"
The Selotape Film
show:
Over the time the
lads have started using photo and film Projections. The idea has
been to try and create a proper show feel to whatever venue they
play. The filming for this is a very simple method. They usually
have a whip round and then send the drummer off to some far off
land armed with a video camera and a digital, and told not to
come back until "we have some cool stuff".
