For some, Britpop
and the mid 90’s were pretty uninspiring, same old same old.
For most, it was an explosion of great music, fabulous weather, the
Beautiful game (Euro 96) and with
Oasis, we had a small insight into what it must
have been like to experience Beatle-mania….. the feel-good factor
was back, and it was cool
to play guitar again! Kingsley
and Stephen shared the belief that they too could create melodies
that would have impact. As they
embarked on a standard night on the town, Stephen
posed the question ‘Kings, do you wanna be a Rock n Roll Star?
…………..Thus THE YEARS were
formed.
They began to
write and record songs thick and fast and eventually took to he
road to gain valuable experience in front of ‘the people’,
cleverly slipping in ‘originals’,
which became very well received. A passionate and vocal
following also evolved. The
start of 2006 earmarked the perfect time to take things forward and
TWO became FOUR with the
additions of Paul Heck and Phil Barlow, who both carry a
wealth of creativity, knowledge and desire.
The Years are :
Stephen Darwood - Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals
Kingsley Thornton - Vocals, Lead Guitar
