The
young hips are a three piece; including Paul Carr (26) on bass &
vocals, dom milligan (28) on guitar & vocals & davie pearson
(27) on drums. The band who hail from Motherwell, Scotland delved
their talents in many other bands before forming the young hips in
the summer of 2002. With much in common the band were lucky enough
to be brought up and influenced by good music, including 60’s
giants ‘The Beatles’, ‘The Who’ and ‘The Stones’. The
bands other influences include ‘The Jam’, ‘The Stone Roses’
and Liverpool’s very own ‘The La’s’ and ‘Shack’ but
through the bands dedication to song writing and spirited live
performances the young hips have developed a sound that is very much
their own.
Since
forming, the band have played numerous gig’s throughout Scotland
including King Tut’s(Glasgow), Barfly(Glasgow) and The
Venue(Edinburgh). The boys also run a successful club night of their
own in their home town which showcases local talent and includes a
set of soul an rock ‘n’ roll from the much acclaimed DJ Gerry.
The
young hips have also recorded a number of their own songs in the
past year. Last September they recorded "The Young Hips ep"
in Cava studios in Glasgow that has had extensive airplay on radio
and received rave reviews in the press. The young hips are a band
who have, and continue to write songs that would stand up anywhere.
A band not to be missed!
