San
Francisco singer songwriter, pop alchemist, Brad Brooks has a big
voice and he intends to use it for dastardly good. It’s Freddie
Mercury dating Leonard Cohen. With tales of ex-stripper librarians,
manic tourists and loons of altitude, his is an extraordinarily
unique perspective on a city and its delightful debauchery.
His
elaborate west coast baroque sound, rocks, pops and breaks your
heart in all the right places.
Either
solo or with his band “The Klickitat Band Camp”, Brad’s brand
of psychedelic persuasion
moves
from constructed pop anthems, through Jacques Brel-esque satirical
waltzes, to intimate guitar ballads. “Brooks takes notes
from pop fiends like Guided by Voices and Elliott Smith, but still
holds old school syrup-mongers like 10cc, Badfinger, XTC, and
Smile-era Brian Wilson close to his chest”
Since
the release of his debut “Sanctified Into Astroglide” Brooks has
been performing through out the SF Bay area and is working on his
follow up due out in June’05, as well as touring solo in the UK in
October.
