Biography |
Darron J. Connett is a
name you'll soon find hard to forget.
Believe me, straight up. One of Shepherds Bush's finest, he's not
just another fresh faced
wannabe off West London's conveyor belt of music. He's
real. A driven singer-songwriter of depth, soulful integrity
andimmense talent. And to cap it off, he's a top fella. Darron was
given his first
development deal with Savage Records at the tender age of 16. When
most lads that age were
more interested in football and porn mags, Darronspent most of his
time locked in a studio learning vocal techniques under the
expertise of Steve Roberts, former Bass-O-Matic singer/song writer
Fascinating Rhythm,
No.9, 1990). As Darron emerged from the council estates of the Bush,
he matured, and so did his music, as he served his apprenticeship as
the front man for various bands gigging and writing throughout the
'90s, before finally quitting to go solo in 2001. He joined forces
with producers and brothers Mat and Ville from the band The Snow
Dogs to produce a body of killer tracks that scream "hit".
Darron J Connett has that special "something" and he's
unleashing it on the world, in a voice described
as having the articulation of a fallen angel With his varied and
eclectic influences from
luminary artists like Paul Weller, John Holt, Oasis,
Small Faces, The Kinks and Elvis, teamed with a fantastic look that
compliments his music, it's no wonder Darron's star is on the
ascent. His effortless style caught the eye of Milan based fashion
agency RA-RE
www.ra-re.it) where he featured as the model and the face for their
2016/05 range. In
a busy year, Darron was also commissioned by Antonio Carluccio to
provide the music to be
used behind a company promotional video. With recent media
acclaim from BBC London presenter Gary Crowley, and ex-NME/ Melody
Maker journalist Paolo
Hewitt, who has described Darron's song 'Early in the Morning'
as "Obvious Single material", Darron hit the streets of
London Town at
the end of 2005 with guitarist Andy Skinner in tow to do 7 live
gigs. We're not
talking church halls we're talking top venues starting with none
other than the infamous
Filthy McNastys and then not once but twice the world
renowned Marquee. Add to that The Pleasure Unit , The Water Rats and
The Sound Café Bar and
you can see the Boy was in much demand. 2006 will be big
for Darron no doubt about it. With a new double A Side single out in
February 2006 (available
at Sister Ray and Intoxica Records amongst other outlets)
which features the songs "Soul Clean" and "Ego
Ascending" -both big favourites
from Darron's live shows. He has won, twice, a national radio
competition for unsigned
bands, and his song Soul Clean, has been selected for
inclusion for the new Biff Bang Pow compilation "Shimmy" .
The footwear company
Ikon invited the band to be an 'Ikon partner' and everyone is
excited in the way that
is developing. Darron is on the road again in 2006 , this
time with a full band behind him. The band consists of Chris on
Drums, Coxy on
Lead Guitar, Charlie on bass, and Andy on Rythym Guitar. Their
career takes another
step up in the coming months, as they head for The Clapham
Grand, Plan B in Brixton, The Cavern In Liverpool, and The 100 Club
to name but a few future
venues Try and keep up won't you... Ikon Footwear www.ikonfootwear.co.uk
