Dean Howard started
playing guitar at the age of eleven.
He was a member of the band Black Alice, an Australian, heavy metal
band from Perth.
This was followed by some session work for the forerunner of Right
Said Fred. In ’87 he joined T’pau. When they disbanded,
Dean worked with Ian Gillan of Deep
Purple until Ian returned to Deep Purple. In
1995 Dean formed the band 'The Herbs' with the now Dean Howard Band
bassist Russell Kennedy.
This lead to an album and three European tours. In
1996 he joined Bad Company for a 13 week American tour. When Simon
Kirke decided to
take some time off Dean followed suit to spend more time with his
children. In 2016 he
formed The Dean Howard Band. Dean
is to guest on 'Gillan's Inn', an album soon to be released by Ian
Gillan to celebrate his
60th birthday and 40 years on the road.
David Domminney
(David John Domminney Fowler) learned to play guitar at the age
of ten. Learning to sing happened much later. He is the youngest
member of the
band. After many
years of playing in bands (Diversion, Cipher, Roam and Room 1)
David formed 'Juice'
alongside Andres Luengo, the drummer with The Dean Howard
Band and Nick Mahoney. After a year or so of gigging they were
picked up by
Feline Records. After some European festival dates they released
a double A
side single and recorded an album (yet to be released). David also
owns and works at Rogue
Recording Studio's in London.
Russell Kennedy
started off as a tuba player at the age of fifteen. At seventeen
he joined the the Royal Artillery Mounted Band. He went on to
play bass
guitar. On leaving the army he worked in orchestra pits using his
sight reading
skills and then went on to work in a music shop selling
instruments. He
ended up in a band called 'The Absolute' with singer Jim
Riley. They both went
on to join 'The Herbs' with Dean Howard. He
then did a stint with “The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers”
for a while. The
following year he went around the world (nearly) on a
cruise liner
for nine months. After that he joined up with “Beyond the
Barricade” doing
songs from the shows with singers from “Les Miserables”.
Andres Luengo
was probably destined to be a musician of sorts from the start. His
biggest influence and source of inspiration was his father who
is also a musician. After going to many of his dads gigs
he decided at the age of 11 that he had to play something and
he tried playing piano but it was too
complicated. Playing bass was not very satisfying either. Then at
one of his
father’s shows, the drummer had a little solo spot. No music
playing, just
drums. Everybody was dancing and the control that this had
over the audience
and Andres pretty much sealed the deal. Discovering Led
Zeppelin And
their drummer John Bonham, the deal was signed, sealed and
delivered!!! Andres
has played in bands ever since. He
has played and recorded with numerous bands such as ‘Lifestyles of
the Rich
and Famous’, ‘Freakatition’, ‘TV For Dogs’ and more
recently ‘Juice’. The
latter band contains David Fowler whom Andres met while
working in a guitar
shop in South East London and the two have been stuck with
each other (musically
speaking) ever since. He has also played in too many pub bands
to list.
This experience was he says one of the most valuable because he had
to learn
and listen to the band members around him. He
has also been a drum tech and roadie for acts such as Missy Elliot,
Mc Lyte
and Suzi Quatro and toured Europe extensively. He has also taught
drums (privately
and at schools) and has many recording sessions to his
credit.
The Dean Howard Band
toured with Deep Purple, Thunder and Peter Frampton in autumn
2016 at Manchester, Glasgow, Sheffield, Newcastle, Birmingham,
London, Cardiff and
Brighton. Their
album 'Dean Howard: Volume One' was given 7/10 by Classic Rock
Magazine. Guesting
on vocals are Mr Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Mr Danny Bowes
(Thunder) and
Mr Toby Jepson (Little Angels). Also guesting on keyboards is Mr Ben
Matthews (Thunder) plus
Dean's son Ricky who plays guitar on 2 tracks.
David and Andres are
also members of the band Garden State 78 with Nick Mahoney.
