We
are the fake tracies! We hail from Walsall, near Birmingham in the
West Midlands and have been together since 2002.
How it all began!
The
fake tracies formed in 2002, setting out to play modern indie / rock
covers around local venues. None of us really knew each other that
well, we were all ‘mates of mates’ brought together by our ex
singer. We soon gelled and became good mates, kicking out our own
songs that we would sneak into our cover set at pubs. 4 years later
we have an original set of about 20 songs, which is developing
constantly and have played dozens of gigs at some impressive venues
around the West Midlands to varying crowd sizes.

What’s our stuff like / influences?
Our
influences are varied as we all come from different musical
backgrounds. Between us we listen to anything from Paul Weller to
The Strokes to slipknot to David Bowie to Led Zeppelin to The Stone
Roses to…you get the point.
Our
music is hard to describe as it is constantly developing. Our
earlier tracks may sound a little different to recently recorded
tracks but there is a definitive link. I would describe us as The
strokes with Franz Ferdinand with a sprinkling of stone roses esque
guitar, topped with perfect vocals and lyrics that mean something.
One track was described as ‘what you’d get if Robbie Williams
was in an indie band’. It’s a good mix and it does impress.
Achievements?
We
have played a lot of good high class venues and met a load of really
cool bands, which is a great personal achievement. Were also booked
to play some great venues this coming year. We started recording our
material last year in the hope of creating an album, which can be
put into production later in the year; that’s coming on nicely. We
were also aired on Kerrang! 105.2 Unsigned on the 15th
Jan 2006, which we are really proud of.
Our Aim?
Our
agenda may be a little different from many bands, were not desperate
for a record deal or to be rich (though we wouldn’t say no to
either!), we just love doing what we do. There’s nothing better
than showcasing a new song to applause! We play to make the world
listen, and they usually do!
What are we like live?
Cant
really answer that one. Were all pretty calm and collective, apart
from Jonno, our front man. He likes to jump/dance/break-dance around
with a tambourine. It certainly takes the pressure of the other guys
and entertains the crowd. Jonno’s highlight was probably dancing
on top of a stepladder, which he found by the side of the stage,
smashing his Spiderman tambourine to pieces. He also likes talking
to the crowd. Imagine a cross between a nice well spoken Liam
Gallagher and Trisha Goddard. Probably.
