Biography |
No. of Cavern
appearances: Around 400. We believe more than any other band in
history but we
often have a laugh with Frankie Connor from the Hideaways about it.
We were signed to Cavern management during the Alf and Joe days
and many of our
appearances were not documented as we would be summoned to play
almost every night of
the week during 1967 by Bob Wooler whether we were billed or
not.

The Klubs first appeared at the Cavern in October 1965, and
continued to play the club till the end of its first life in the
70s.
They played the
Cavern around 400 times. During the latter part of 1966 and into
early 1968, the Klubs were signed to the Cavern's own management and
agency before moving on to be signed by the notorious Don Arden. The
band reformed for The
Cavern's 40th Anniversary in 1997 and in 1999 they were uncovered by
Record Collector Magazine in their ground breaking series
of articles 'The A-Z of British Psychedelia'. The article
caused a huge wave of interest in the band and an album of their
unreleased 60s recordings was pronounced ,Album of The Year 1999' by
Record Collector ahead of another famous band from The
Cavern whose re-released Yellow Submarine came second, followed by
offerings from The Small Faces, Fleetwood Mac and
other 60s luminaries.
In 2002
The Klubs did a sell out reunion gig in The Cavern to celebrate the
launch of the CD version of the album, the band being hailed in the national
press as 'The Greatest lost band of the British psychedelic Era'.
They will be reforming for the last time for the 50th Anniversary of
the club in 2016.
