Formed
in 2015, Leeds-based band, Mishkin
combine an eclectic taste in music to create an awesome metal,
funky, jazzy mix of energy, power and musicianship producing
everything from full-on
screamo extremo intensity to melodic emo psychedelia. This is
progressive metal at its best,
that keeps you watching from start to finish.
Since
the beginning they have gigged heavily and consistently in weird and
wonderful places far and wide across the UK (often in their native
Leeds and always to an appreciative ear).
The
musical qualities which Mishkin try to enforce in their
demonstration of masculine man meat are those of fusion licks,
liberty, justice, funk, free-flowing rhythms, heavy grooves and the
balance of true darkness and pure light.
The
collective are Ben – vocals, Ali – guitar & vocals, Mark –
drums, Jimi – Guitar, Tom/Will – bass. The future for Mishkin will be writing
more melodies for your aural pleasure, gigging round your way soon
and being available for a piece of the action y’all know what
I’m talking about.
REVIEW
IN METAL HAMMER MAY 2006 ISSUE
“This
Leeds outfit combine a radio-friendly heaviness with some nice
guitar work and an emotionally explicit voice. While there’s a
clear major label edge, the band maintain a raw core element –
evident in the gutteral screams and rap-metal style, hip-hop rhythms
and breakdowns. There’s a great ‘unsafe’ feeling of
unpredictability that keeps you guessing what’s next. From
beautiful clean guitar/vocal harmonies a la Jimmy Eat World to the
visceral and primal screaming of heavier sections, Mishkin have a
bright future.

“Luckily
I have the ten-legged metal beast from Ilkley named Mishkin to come
next. Their combination of contemporary Metal grind chuggery with
Incubus styled melodic vocals is met with a thunderous applause
every time. They’re almost subliminal, I’m not a violent man,
but they make me want to kick someone’s ass!”
