Somewhere in the sixties there was a glorious Rhythm and
Blues band : Desolation” playing in Horst (a village in the south of Holland).
Later some group members played in bands like “Dandy-Lion” and “Booze Belly”. This is
mentioned to highlight that the roots of the older musicians that currently play with Pigtail are in the
sixties and seventies. In the year 2000, these blues musicians searched for new musical ways and
decided to produce more rock music. However, the new band needed a lead singer and a second guitarist.
These two musicians were found when the rock formation “Feedback” fell apart. A new band was born
under the name “Pigtail”.
Striking is the difference in age. The experienced and pure 40/50+ members found two 20+ members to join
them. After two years of hard work, this turned out to be a lucky hit. The result is a fabulous LIVE ROCK
SHOW.
The repertoire.
At first, the emphasis lays on songs from the sixties and seventies. Lot’s of numbers were renewed but not
at the cost of recognition of the original. To reach a larger audience some recent pop songs were added to
the repertoire. A number of fabulous concerts followed.
Examples are “The Rock weekend” in America (Holland), “the Music festival” in the Hague and of
course “Beatnight”(the biggest festival of southern Holland) for 2000 music fans. In the meanwhile,
Pigtail has visited the legendary “Cavern Club” in Liverpool (they played there on 1 and 2 november
2002) to perform three times. Yet, the end is not near...
A number of songs that you can’t miss are “While my guitar gently weeps” from the Beatles (written by
George Harrison who died last year), “Help” and various other songs from the Beatles, Every rose
has his thorn” from Poison, “Dead or alive” from Bon Jovi and “Roll over lay down” from
Status Quo. They also have a 45 minutes Beatles Repertoire.
