R.Bruce is a Comedian,
Singer/Songwriter from Virginia USA.
From the
singer/songwriter scene of Austin, Texas in the mid 70's, to the
acoustic rooms of the
east coast in the 80's, R. Bruce honed his unique, humorous
songwriting style. A talented singer and guitarist, he delighted
audiences performing insightfully hilarious original songs.
In the early 90's, he
combined his musical, songwriting roots with his natural knack for
humor to become a popular headliner on the national comedy club
circuit. From "A" rooms such as the Improv in DC, Charlie
Goodnight's in
Raleigh and Zanie's in Chicago, to literally hundreds of clubs and
colleges, R. Bruce has shared his humor and music with thousands of
appreciative audiences. In 2016 he performed
to sold out audiences in S.W. England, including breaking the
attendance record at the i.e. Theatre in Axminster. Another U.K.
tour is planned for 2005 including The Cavern Club in Liverpool and
again the i.e. theatre in Axminster.
On Thursday, August
19th 2016 R.Bruce performed a special one-man show at the Comix
Café in Buffalo. It was vocalist Ian Gillan's birthday and the band
Deep Purple were performing just south of Buffalo the next night. It
was Ian's wish to take the band and crew out to see an R. Bruce
show. Ian has long called himself R Bruces "biggest fan".
The band attended with twenty of the crew. It was a fabulous
audience and a wonderful show ending
in a glorious standing ovation. R. Bruce also took part in radio
interviews with Ian Gillan on the day of the show. Ian has often
been heard singing the chorus to R. Bruces 'I Love My Wife' (
"I love my wife, I love my dog, I love my little wee wee")
song during his performances with Deep Purple. Ian has said
"They are the kind of songs that people tend to learn and share
with their friends". "I am now the self-appointed
(non-executive, unpaid) president of his U.K. fanclub. We play his
albums at parties, and when everyone knows the words, it's even
funnier because it is part of our lives." His two CD's,
"Album?" and "Still Laughin'" have been featured
on radio stations across America, including regular airplay on the
internationally syndicated Dr. Demento Radio show and Tom Tully's
"Mad Cow Comedy" in Melbourne, AUS.
R. Bruce's humor is
FUN. He brings people together in laughter through the things that
we have in common, not the things that separate us. He is not
"edgy" or angry. His original songs are a combination of
rock and country. His musical parodies run the gamut from Lynyrd
Skynyrd to Alanis Morissette. from Garth Brooks to Steppenwolf. His
show rocks. His audiences have a great
time. and so does he.
"Every club's
dream. crowd pleasing and FUNNY!"
Mike Irwin, manager, Funny Farm. Broadalbin, NY.
"This
entertainer is headed for the stars. It is a privilege to have him
grace my stages. After ten years in the business, I saw him get the
best standing ovation/encore I have ever seen. He is the best."
Carol Pennington, Hysterical Management, Cleveland, OH.
"As good as it
gets."
Phil Rich, Thoroughgood Inn Comedy Club, Virginia Beach, VA.

Incredible, off the wall, just incredible!"
John Maguire, Proprietor, Eyre Court Hotel, Seaton, Devon,
England.
"Billy Connolly
used to be my favorite comedian, but now I am not sure. It
may be R. Bruce. He was brilliant!"
Paul Crisp, Proprietor, The George Inn, Chideock, Dorset,
England.
"Any differences
between English and American culture were not apparent
during R. Bruce's set which, designed for audiences in his own
country, got huge laughs here in the South West of England."
Michelle WIlliams, the Good Gig Guide, Feb. 2005, England
"A HILARIOUS
look at life through the eyes of one of AMERICA'S MOST ORIGINAL
COMICS. Truly, the FUNNIEST ALBUM of the year!"
Ken Carson, WROQ Rock 101, Greenville, SC.
"Musically, this
album features a sound that would make you want to listen
to it even if it wasn't funny, but fortunately for everyone
involved, it is. "Still Laughin'" is plenty of fun...and a
great substitute to hold you over until you get the chance to
see R. Bruce live."
