The
bands rock family tree formed in 1964. We have a brick in the wall,
which is included with 1801 others on the façade of the Cavern Club
in Mathew Street, Liverpool. But, as Tynfoil we never played the
Cavern. We did get a booking on Thursday 29th January
1970 but we were somehow mysteriously cancelled at the last minute.
When the commemorative brick-in-the-wall idea was conceived, old
Cavern contracts must have had Tynfoil (miss-spelt Tynefoil on the
brick) written down and booked to play. So we never played the dream
gig. So the real number of bricks should be 1800 not 1801. Tynfoil
are looking forward to playing this 33 year old outstanding gig and
putting this small matter right.
2016 is the fortieth anniversary of the ‘band’
(1964 - 2016) in all its variety and forms.

A commemorative live four track CD is being produced
celebrating our contribution to four decades of pop, rock and roll.
One song, each of which reflects rock and pop music from each
decade… the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s… and the Shyms/Tynfoil/Something
Catchy’s
place
within this golden forty-year rock and roll musical era.

‘Benny’ Bentham, lead vocal.*
Alan
‘Rocky’ Turner, bass guitar and vocal.*
Jack ‘Ice Cool’ Carney, lead guitar and vocal.
Bill
‘Billy Shym’ Hart, drums and vocal.*
As a four-piece rock band, working in the high quality
hotel/weddings/social clubs circuit, playing in and around northwest
England, we work hard at producing easy-on-the-ear, high quality,
tight, four-voice harmony. We take classic popular songs from every
pop and rock genre, strip them bare, slowly and sensitively rebuild
them and then shape, style and add and subtract from them, until
they become --- sort of --- ‘our’
songs. You might say they are covers, but they are covers that are
hugely different, and happily survive the plastic surgery, without
altering their unique originality.
