Stonecake
is
a three-piece band from Sweden that sends their message through
drums, bass, guitar and vocals. They have recorded four albums and
toured Scandinavia throughout the nineties.
Stonecake
hit the Swedish music scene in the early nineties. They were the
edge of the new era of music and trends that took its origins from
the 60:s.
When
their Beatles sounding smash-hit "Tuesday afternoon" came
it ruled the radio and the band got an award for best
"newcomer".
With roots both in the "catchy melodic pop song context"
and the "psychedelic underground" Stonecake established an
own sound and gave birth to a performance that treats every gig with
great respect and sees that the nerve and spirit always is there.
With the commercial treatment that the success brought Stonecake
became a well oiled live machine.
They
toured Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium in the mid nineties
and occurred on MTV in Europe during the same time. Stonecake was
cored as the best performing band by the British magazine New
Musical Express during the Midtfyn festival in Denmark- 92 among
bands like The Dubliners, Joe Cocker, Suzie Quattro and more.
During
-95 the band played as supporting act for Oasis in Stockholm
-95.
Stonecake
has recently toured the east and west coast of US three times and
received great response for their dynamic sound and tremendous
vocals and playing. All inside a fresh, intelligent and unique song
material.
