0898 were formed in 1996 when Oasis fever was at its high, whilst all others where trying to copy this Oasis sound and jump on the latest band wagon 0898 stuck with their roots and played a blend of punk/pop/rock.
No one has yet managed to pigeon hole the 0898 sound. Many say 0898 sound like 'The Clash, Blondie, The Manic Street Preachers, The Buzzcocks and even Liverpool's finest Echo & The Bunnymen'. Whilst being interviewed by Dave Mason DJ on Radio City, he described Anton (singer) as being the new Ian McCulloch. Dave Mason went on to play an 0898 track live on air twice in one show, something he had never done in his career.
It was at a early Cavern gig the band was approached by avid music fan and very knowledgeable person who offered the band a single deal. The band have now released two single and a debut album is due for release in early 2016. The first single "it just might happen" had good press, especially in the record collector magazine. This attracted sales all over Europe on the strength of the review.
The summer of 2015 the band sit down and discuss a changing the band name, 0898 came from the very popular sex chat lines of the 90's. These numbers have been long replaced by all sorts of numbers, but none quite as catchy as 0898! The band decide on a new name which has been well received by all that know the band.
