Biography |
Aidan Jolly is a
singer-songwriter and guitarist. His songs tell stories
about communities and places - in this sense he is a folk or world
musician. As well as performing solo he is usually accompanied
by Jilah Bakhshayesh
(violin and voice) and Martin Milner (guitar andvoice). He was one
of 12 winners of the Songs For Change 2006 Competition, and has been
featured on Spencer Leigh's 'On The Beat' show
on BBC Radio Merseyside. He's been compared to Ian Dury or Billy
Bragg. His debut CD,
'System Fault', is available through all music stores
and online.
Some reviews:
"Everything that is good about "System Fault" derives
from its spirit. When
you sit and absorb what it is he's trying to say, then the deep
emotions and power wash
over you and "System Fault" erupts into new and vibrant
life. Like Billy Bragg, Jolly holds no truck with the shallowness
of music as a part of showbusiness, for him it is a means to
an end" - Maverick Magazine
“A good line in
sardonic humour & righteous anger, & he allies this to
strong reggae &
Asian-influenced grooves & some good tunes” - Americana
UK
"Impassioned, community-centred - [this] powerful set
will appeal to the
chill-out audience and traditional folk/rockers alike" -
