Biography |
Born and raised in Yuma,
Arizona, Eugene stayed locked in
his bedroom preparing for his dream to come true; guitar
plugged in, stereo blasting, parents understanding.
After one semester at Berklee College of
Music, Eugene went on the road with one of the bands
that he'd worked with back home. Coming to Los Angeles
in July of 1996, he played lead guitar in a couple
of roots trios (Russell Scott & The Red Hots for
one,) before writing his own material. He's a guitar
virtuoso, but his playing isn't flashy. It's a concise
distillation of influences ranging from Dave Alvin
to George Harrison to Neil Young. His songs are sexy
without being blatant, and wistful without being wimpy.
