Luke
Koteras. 19 year old guitar playing singer songwriter sensation
will soon be recognised as 'THE YOUNG GUN GUITARIST' on
the Australian rock scene. Luke's virtuosity encompasses not
only acoustic guitar, playing contemporary style fingerpicking ...
ala Tommy Emmanuel but also electric guitar ... ala
Steve Morse (Deep Purple).
With the
recently formed LUKE KOTERAS BAND consisting of Luke's guitar wizardry
and unique vocals plus master musicians; Andy Davis on Drums
and Alex Croke on Bass; this high powered rock trio present a
blend of original tunes along with a blinding selection of groove, roots
rock, blues and fusion.
Luke recently toured China with jazz funk outfit 'dlivr' and
guested on The Blues Mekanix Album 'Blues Crossroad'. He opened
recently for Soul Legend Rennee Geyer and Classic Aussie Rocker
Normie Rowe. Over the past two years Luke's first CD/ EP "Acoustically
Speaking' has sold several thousands copies across Australia and
the world vie the Internet. Luke's also had songs released on
three of the 'SOUNDS LIKE CAFE' CD's and a 'GYO' (Grow Your
Own) CD a favourite on Triple JJJ. Luke also played guitar on
several fellow artists recordings including; Clear, John Brownrigg,
dlivr and Blues Mekanix CD's. Luke has just featured as the Young
Gun at Steve Flack's Guitar Heroes show alongside Bill
Chambers, Steve Flack and Rose Tattoo at The Empire Hotel In
Sydney and he slayed 'em!
Luke only seriously
kicked in mid 2005 with shows at The Basement and The Vanguard in
Sydney and The FUSE Festival Adelaide. The life of Luke Koteras
has been one seriously evolved trip. For starters he seems to
revel in doing things to perfection and he has the ability to pull
it off. Whispers about Luke Koteras started to spread when he
scored recording time with ‘Foghorn Records’ whilst still 17
years old. By late 2005, the debut EP, 'Acoustically Speaking',
had been blessed with high sales at all his gigs.
Brought up by
music-loving parents, Luke was fed a steady diet of The Who, The
Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Nirvana and
Red Hot Chilli Peppers which, combined with Luke’s rural (Camden
NSW) isolation, left him with no option but to play guitar
himself. As a boy Luke was winning many trophies and awards as an
outstanding Guitar playing talent before going on to complete his
musical studies at AIM. Learning his licks from intently listening
to Tommy Emmanuel through to Jimmy Page and then by personally
swapping licks with Joseph Calderazzo, Steve Flack, Bill Chambers
and many other great Aussie guitar players. Now as Frontman and
guitarist of his own band, 19-year-old Luke, bassist Alex and
drummer Andy, play vibrant and sweeping acoustic and electric
rock.
Sure, Luke Koteras
is of an age when he should still be at war with raging hormones
and jamming 'Stairway to Heaven' in the garage. But don't let
anyone try to convince you that his youth lessens his competence
as a true musician and songwriter nor lessens the knockout blow of
his 2nd LP ‘FATE' following on from the raging success of
his EP 'ACOUSTICALLY SPEAKING'. A voice that will soon be heard
loud and clear throughout the international recording industry and
beyond!
