THE QUARTER burst onto
the Liverpool music scene in early 2015. Comparisons may pick up
inflections of LED ZEP , the 'MONDAYS, the 'ROSES and, curiously
even, SANTANA. However, it is soon obvious that The Quarter embody a
fresh and diverse sound of their own. Catchy melodic riffs and wry
observation juxtapose moments of unexpected vulnerability with an
exhilarating rawness and pure rock-and-roll danceability.
Front man Anthony
Godfrey - a bizarre mix of rock god, comic genius and scallywag
street philosopher - with his energetic stomping and manic stage
presence, never fails to incite hysteria in the crowd. Coupled with
a passionate and heartfelt delivery of carefully crafted lyrics, The
Quarter easily engage an audience rapport rarely witnessed in
British music today.
With a large following
quickly established, the band twice filled the 400 capacity L2.
Having beaten off competition from all over the UK on a pilot BBC
music show hosted by Carol Smillie, The Quarter set off with their
prize - £10,000 worth of equipment - and embarked on an infamous
tour of NEW YORK. Following in the footsteps of JOY DIVISION and THE
RAMONES with a much coveted gig at the legendary CBGB's.
