Resound are a 5 piece
indie outfit from Coventry who have been described as a 21st century
alternative to the kinks - in other words, a guitar band who play
alternative pop music that contains the type of themes and
sentiments the current generation can relate to. The band formed in
the spring of 2001 and consist of Blake Hutchings (Vocals), Luke
Clark (Guitar, vocals), Danny Marley (Guitar, vocals), Martin Law
(Bass), and Paul Jones (Drums). Resound's sound has often been
referred to as a clash between modern British indie and retro U.S.
blues-rock. The songs reflect a mixture of influences that range
from the bands they grew up listening to in the 90s, along with the
classic artists of the 60s, 70s and 80s…. well only some artists
of the 80s! Influences such as The Stone Roses and Bob Dylan provide
this blues/indie crossover, which is refined through the band's
application of distinctive three part harmonies. It is this
amalgamation that creates songs of an 'alternative pop' nature.
The band's main
purpose has always been to write original material and gig the end
product whenever possible and wherever possible. A significant
amount of time is spent nurturing their ideas so that songs are
performed live only when they are ready. It is this pursuit for
quality that makes live performances so vital to the band because
every song ends up being delivered with conviction and pride - it is
passion that is Resound's fashion. The band have played support to
many signed bands including the Datsuns, Six by Seven, Dogs Die In
Hot Cars, Alfie, Shed Seven and the Bluetones, to name a but a few.
On top of this regular gigging, time has been spent in the studio,
which has brought about the EPs 'Give the Boy a Medal' and 'Wooden
Eggs and the Spanish Armada' during 2016. A recent promo has been
put together, drawing upon songs from these EPs in an aim to provide
the most suitable reflection of Resound's identity. This promo
consists of the compositions 'Homebound Blues', 'Delayed' and 'The
Lost and Found'. It paints a picture of the place the band is
currently at, along with an insight to where they are creatively
heading. Along with writing new material, Resound are in the process
of a continued flow of live performances, with the intent of
reaching out to as many passionate music lovers as they possibly
can.
