re:verb originally
formed in October 1999 in the rural bleakness of England that
is East Lancashire, and have been with their current line-up for
just over a year.
Being equidistant to the major musical influences of Manchester
and Liverpool, but not actually close to either, they proceeded
to make their initial
impact on the music scene in their local towns.
re:verb’s pure-pop
melody’s are produced by five northern lads as an escape from
their grim surroundings. Collectively they produce one fantastic
sound, and have
at least two good songs. Influences include: The Stone Roses, Pink
Floyd, The Smiths, The
Levellers, The
Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Oasis.
The music is
contemporary indie-rock with a side-helping of dance and, dare
it be said, funk! They
have plenty of gigging experience, including playing on
the main stage at the world famous Colne Blues Festival, and
Blackburn Arts in the Park music festival. Always impressing the
live audience with their
catchy feel-good anthems, its often commented that surely these guys
are chart-bound, however re:verb’s big break is yet to come.
Random facts; the
drummer is a well-publicised author and mountaineer, and the
guitarist recently worked (and starred) in a Bollywood film,
Bollywood Queen.
Anecdotes; Lee set
his beard on fire once whilst playing a gig, forgetting he was still
smoking a cigarette! Also, at a recent gig re:verb thought that
they had blown their new PA little realising it had two power
buttons! Fortunately
the band’s musical ability is far higher than their collective IQ.
