The
debut album Instant
Pleasure by Seth
Swirsky will be released on October
1st with 11 songs written and performed by the
songwriter after penning some 350 songs for the music world’s top
recording artists. Seth has
written hit songs for artists ranging from Rufus Wainwright to Al
Green, Celine Dion to Michael McDonald. Remember the smash hit
"Tell It To My Heart" by Taylor Dayne? Seth wrote it
along with her follow-up smash "Prove Your Love". His
songs have been on 24 gold and platinum records and have been
featured in some of Hollywood's biggest movies, among them, Legally
Blond, Two Weeks Notice
and Big Daddy. Currently,
Seth's song "Love Is A Beautiful Thing" sung by Al
Green was chosen by Almay for their new international television
advertising campaign.
Other artists who have recorded Seth's songs include: Tina Turner
(for the 5x platinum Princess
Diana Tribute Record), Olivia Newton-John (for her Greatest
Hits CD), Air Supply, Smokey Robinson, The Go-Go's Jane
Weidlin, French superstar Lara Fabian, The Four Tops, Faith Evans,
Emmy Lou Harris and many others. The list of people Seth has written
songs with read like a who's who in pop music history: Eric Carmen,
Marshall Crenshaw, Cy Curnin (The Fixx), Eric Schenkman (The
Spin Doctors), Felix Cavaliere (The Young Rascals) and David
Pack (Ambrosia).
His
band on the record consisted of such pop luminaries as Andy Sturmer
(Jellyfish), Danny Wilde and Phil Solem (The Rembrandts), John
Fields (Bleu, Honeydogs), Michael Chavez (John Mayer), Justin Meldal-Johnson
(Beck, Air) and Dorian Crozier (Five for Fighting). The single from
the record, "It's Still Love" was originally written for
Ringo Starr as a paean to the Beatles universal message on "All
You Need Is Love" that love is STILL all you need.
*PopBang.com made Instant
Pleasure their album of the week (8/12/04)
calling it "a simple melodic, pure pop masterpiece. Seth
Swirsky has crafted an album of spectacular pop songs. Already
one of the years top 10 on our list, this is wonderful stuff that
should not be missed."
*NotLame.com, who also featured the album as their pick of the week
(8/22/04)
called it an "album full of moments that effortlessly steal you
away into the beautiful scenes that Swirsky constructs. Instant
Pleasure showcases extraordinary talent and something that has
been missing from music at large: depth of content surrounded by
irresistible sounds, beautiful, rich and warm and filled with
expression. Yes!"
*JamRecordingss.com
calls Instant Pleasure
"one of the best power pop CD's to come out this year. Seth
Swirsky sounds like a perfect blend of Beatles, Jellyfish and
Merrymakers. Fantastic and essential!
Fans
of baseball know Seth as the creator of three best selling books,
that consist of the actual handwritten letters to him from baseball
players (like Cal Ripken Jr., Roger Clemens and Ted Williams) and
fans of baseball (like Paul McCartney, both president's Bush, Buzz
Aldrin, Warren Buffett, Senator Ted Kennedy, Meet The Press anchor
Tim Russert, Bob Costas among many others). The books are called Baseball
Letters (Random House, 1996),
Every Pitcher Tells A Story (Times Books, 1999) and Something
to Write Home About (Random House, 2015). Seth has been
interviewed on The Today Show, Good Morning America, ABC Nightly
News and others as well as being profiled in articles in GQ,
USA
Today, The New York Times, People and Newsweek. He was featured in a
PBS documentary about his life as a “manic expressive” in 1999
called The Passion of Play.
As a collector of baseball relics Seth has the actual ball that went
through Bill Buckner's legs in the 1986 World Series as well as a
baseball signed by the Beatles the night they played their famous
Shea Stadium concert on August
15, 1965.
Speaking of the Beatles, Seth will fulfill a boyhood dream
and perform at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool,
England
on October 25th as part of the International
Pop Overthrow Festival. (www.internationalpopoverthrow.com).
A visual artist, Seth creates 3-dimensional piece from objects from
his life. For instance, he took the front of his old Pioneer stereo
receiver and made a collage (in the dial window) of his favorite
artists that he listened to growing up. Another piece consists of
all 112 pins from Bobby Kennedy's 1968 short-lived run for the
presidency. It's called "Bobby Pins". Seth's multi-colored
poster called "ARTiculate" hangs in offices, homes and
schools across the world.
