Hello!
This was my 8th Beatle Week, but this year I spent most of it working in Mathew Street Gallery. Thanks to all who popped in to see Robert Whitaker, Anne-Marie and myself, and hopefully see you next year....

Cheers to everybody!
The Urban Crow's first visit to Liverpool as a performing band was an unforgettable event for all the band members. Six gigs, and three of them in the legendary Cavern, several encores, new devoted fans...
The band would like to thank all the fantastic people who were working in the Beatle Week organization and in the Cavern as well as our good old friends and brand new fans who cheered us on to do the best we could and even a bit more.

Liverpool Song, composed and written by band members Tapani Lepomaki and Leevi Ahonen can be loaded from www.theurbancrow.com
and THE DOWNLOAD IS FREE! The song is our homage to the home city of the Beatles and all the poeple around the world who have visited Liverpool:
"Walking down Madryn Street
Stopping at nine
A pint in the Empress Pub
and I'm feeling fine.
Rendez-vous with times gone by
I'm here for the first time, but been here before!"
Check it out!
Best Wishes!
The Urban Crow

Love!
Leonor, Angie, Biella, Juan, "Carupano", "Pancho", Carlos y Guille!

Many thanks to Bill, Ray, Dave, Neil and everyone at the Cavern City Tours for making the second appearance of Beat The Meetles at the Beatle Week a fantastic one. Especially thanks to Bill who gave us the opportunity to perform our show at the Strawberry Fields Garden party and not least the show at The Cavern Club, prime time Saturday night. Also a big thanks to the exceptional audience at the Cavern Club, this is what it must have been like in 1963, the screaming was fantastic, humidity 100%, and our camera team was so amused by the filming and recordings as you all made it so authentic. Later this year you might find yourself part of the next Beat The Meetles music video, look out for it at www.beatthemeetles.dk. Also big thanks to the sound engineers and staff at both the Strawberry Fields Garden Party and Cavern Club for your professionalism and thereby making it possible for us to use our own backline of VOX amps and Ludwig drums.
We used our Saturday at the Beatle Week with a lot of filming at different locations for our music video, special thanks for letting us film at the Liverpool Cathedral, for lending us the Roll Royce, the tourist from the Magical Mystery Tour bus at Penny Lane, etc.; you all made that a special event for us. We'll be looking forward to be coming back at the Beatle Week and seeing you all again.
Fab regards
Beat The Meetles

Hi there! Me and my band went to Liverpool, during the Beatleweek. It was fantastic. Our first but not the last time I can assure you.
We saw a several great bands, such as The Mersey Beatles, Australian Fab Four, The Prellies and many more. We also visited Lennon & Mc Cartney homes, Beatles Story Museum. We will definitely be back next year. See you all then.

Hi people of Cavern City Tours,
It was a very good Beatle week with a nice room in the Grand Central Unit.
Definite highlights were the Clube Big Beatles, the Fab Faux and God save the Queen. And a lot of other good bands.
A pity that the Clube Big Beatles was not closing the Strawberry Fields Party. They had a very good gig, but were transferred to the ferry at the last moment. They deserve the spotlights.
Thanks for a lot of music.

Another excellent Beatle Week has come and gone. Many Thanks to Bill, Dave, Ray, Neil B and everyone at CCT for all your hard work in what was a particular difficult year! I also know it must be hell to work in Liverpool at the moment, but all that work is paying off as it's looking so much cleaner and "brighter" already. Anyway, here's my highlights of BW 2005.

My Fave New Bands: The Tearaways, Mexican Blue Meanies, Instant Karma USA. Your energy & enthusiasm was amazing. I hope you all come back next year.

My Fave regular BW bands: Overtures, Fab Faux, Liverpool, Clube Big Beatles, Prellies, and Repeatles and the Unite girls favourite Mad Dogs. All their shows, as usual, were exceptional! Most Heard song: Coming Up by Wings. Loved Blue Meanies, Fab Faux & Bob Barty's versions. They were all so different and it's such a "feel-good" song that I haven't heard live for ages.

Most awesome songs: Fab Faux (Monday) Whilst My Guitar Gently Weeps. Jimmi very cunningly added a sample of George at the end, which was unexpected. This was recorded a few months before George died, it was particularly "goose-bumpy". Jimmi told me afterwards that he did it because he wanted to see people's reactions. He must have been pleased - because there were plenty of tears and group hugs after that song finished. Also, Mad Dog's version of "Michelle" part jazzy, part Tango. If you thought that song was slow/romantic/boring, you'd never think that again after hearing their  version!

Most innovative set: Clube Big Beatles on Convention day. Some people didn't get the point of this set, but Mark & Edu did explain it pretty clearly at the beginning. They wanted to show how much Beatle songs had influenced their contemporaries and this was the way they illustrated it - and what a way! The Rockers in the audience appreciated it and I was pleased to see them doing something new.
Most Creative sets: Hal Bruce's late night "Apple Jams" in the American bar & Waves in the Adelphi, especially the songs he did with Marcus.

Best Dance Moves: Prellies in Pearce Suite on Convention Day. Gaz's "cha cha cha" steps have to be seen to believed and what weren't those blonde girls amazing? It was like a 50's pogo. Also, Stevie P & his lovely girlfriend during the Prellies set in the Crompton's Bar on Friday night. It was like a Tango out of Strictly Dance Fever. How they avoided a serious back injury is a mystery!

Best "Happening": John Keats & Yoko (Victoria Sharpe). Liverpool's favourite couple were entertaining as always. This year they performed Double Fantasy, the album that featured a lot of Yoko songs (but for some strange reason they never get played!). "Yoko" had obviously been reading all the favourable reviews on this site from last year as she was bursting with confidence, dropping much of the "I love you John" lines and reminding Jon that the audience had come to see her as much as him. (true!). I had a quick chat with Victoria after the show and she told me that she has learnt a lot of Yoko songs for the act, but never gets to play them in full as she always gets "interrupted". I would love to hear them next year.

Fave non-Beatle Bands - Rocks Off & God Save The Queen. Loved all their shows. I liked the way Rocks Off chose songs that don't get played so often & I like the heavier tracks that GSTQ play like Tie Your Mother Down. Watching them, I realized why I didn't get into Live 8 so much this year - it was missing the vital ingredient, Freddie Mercury. Pablo Padin makes a more than adequate substitute and alarmingly looks more like Freddie each year.

Customer Service award goes to Mandy from Unite. She was so cheerful and helpful and patiently taught us how to open the locks and even helped us carry our cases up the stairs. For the many people who are planning on staying there next year for the first time, here's a list of what to bring with you (or you can buy them cheaply in Woolworth's or the 99p shop in St John's Shopping centre), towels, cutlery, crockery, tea towels, dish cloth, hangers, travel kettle, extra toilet rolls, food & drink. If you have any tea bags and coffee left over & don't want to take them home, the Unite staff will be more than delighted to have them!

Most Unusual experience at BW: The Maverick! Interaction presentation "Which Beatle Are You" which was on during the Convention. It was a shame that more people didn't do this as once we got into it, it was really good and there were surprising results. This seminar is used in team building and personal development courses. The idea is that The Beatles are the most famous successful "team" in the world, made up of 4 very different characters and are the ideal "case study" to show how personal talents, a common goal and the ability to grasp opportunities can enhance personal growth, create strong working relationships and have a productive business. They are also the perfect example to show what happens when the dynamics of a good team goes wrong! There was a large cross on the floor with 4 points to illustrate Driven & assertive (the John characteristics), Creative (Paul), cautious & concerned (George), Compromising, people-friendly (Ringo). We all stood on a point on the lines where we thought we should be and then by answering a series of probing questions given to us by John, our consultant, we moved along the cross to where we really ought to be. I started out thinking I was a "people person" (Ringo) when in fact I ended up a George! Anther interesting thing was seeing how opposites attract. Although as personalities, the George and Johns were total opposites, as team members they were most compatible and worked well together.

Most missed: Laurie, our favourite dancing American. Loads of people told me how much they missed her. If she's thinking of missing next year's BW, I'll have to get a petition going to make her change her mind! Also missing were "Georges". Gavin Pring now works in America, Rick's too busy with the Mathew Street Festival, so we need new "Youngbloods".
